Whitney Carter-Allen, MS
Metamorphosis Project Specialist
As the Metamorphosis Project Specialist, I will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Donation Center. I will also be the designated staff of volunteer coordination for both the Metamorphosis Project Youth Emergency Center and Donation Center. In addition, I will design new Life Hack programs, maintain existing relationships with those who already facilitate them, and be a part of outreach efforts in the community.
I will be working alongside the Director of the Metamorphosis Project to ensure that we are declining the rate of youth homelessness in the LGBTQ+ community. I will be forming relationships with our youth in the rapid re-housing program to focus on the betterment both our Life Hacks program and our Donation Center. As someone who is in the LGBTQ+ community and someone who has experienced homelessness, I plan to put forth tireless efforts to be a part of the solution.
I chose to work at OUTMemphis because I believe in its mission. I work diligently to stay true to who I am, and to be affirming and supportive of the changes that are happening in our community. This organization is growing expeditiously and is working towards bridging the gaps within our city and our community, and I am excited to be a part of that vision. As a child, I was often told who to be, how to dress, and what to say. Here at OUTMemphis, I want our youth and every individual who walks through our door to embody authenticity and not feel the way that I did.
