In 2016, OUTMemphis first launched direct services for trans individuals with the support of staff and community. Today, we are thrilled to announce our new Trans Services Fellowship program. This paid opportunity is designed for trans individuals of color to act as a peer advocate: connecting needed resources, lifting up our trans family, and helping OUTMemphis learn how to do better by our trans community of color.

Mackenzie will spend the next several months learning community-serving skills and supporting the growth of our trans programs. If you haven’t met him yet, Alexander Hauptman joined the staff (all the way from Albany, New York!) as the Trans Services Manager back in January. Mackenzie and Alex will work together in building up our programs.

It was certainly a challenge to make sure this was the right moment to launch this fellowship. After many months of planning, we felt this was an essential time to invest in both reaching out to and providing to the trans communities here in the Mid-South. In the coming years, we look forward to welcoming future fellows and supporting trans people entering the workforce.

Sincerely,
Molly Rose Quinn
