We Care Calls Volunteer Orientation

This is the volunteer training for the We Care Calls program. If you are LGBTQ, 55+ years of age, and interested in serving as a supportive peer for a fellow senior, please email us for more information.

Meristem Women’s Book Club

Meristem will be meeting at Novel Bookstore to participate in the book signing and reading of Fat Angie: Rebel Girl Revolution. (sequel to the 2014 Stonewall Award young adult fiction winner Fat Angie). The book costs $16.99 and 20% of proceeds from sale of the new book that night will go to OUTMemphis!

Perpetual Transition

Perpetual Transition is our core Transgender Services peer-led community group. PT is a safe and welcoming space for transgender folks of any flavor, identity, expression, or gender to meet and socialize with other like-minded individuals. 

PT is open to anyone who identifies as transgender or is questioning, and is a safe and confidential space to ask questions and meet other people.

Write Your Life: Autobiography Class for Seniors

In this class, students will learn the ins and outs of writing about their life, with the goal of learning how to compose an autobiographical journal in order to preserve LGBTQ and personal histories.

Volunteer Orientation

This one hour class is held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, with the purpose of introducing new volunteers to the programs, space, and culture of OUTMemphis. All new volunteers must attend this orientation.

Tu Ppl: LGBTQIA+ Latinx

Tu Ppl is a social support group for Latinx/Hispanic Memphians who also identify with the LGBTQIA+ community.  Tu Ppl is a space for LGBTQIA+ Latinx people to come together and bond over the intersection of these two identities.

STD: Sexually Transmitted Discussions

April is Sexually Transmitted Infection Awareness Month, so join OUTMemphis for this fun event put on by the Sexual Health Committee!

We will have interactive sexual health art installments, spelling competitions of STI names, group discussions about STIs, and we will be discussing experiences community members have had with STIs, and how it has affected their outlook on life.

Tai Chi for Health

Tai Chi for Health Classes for LGBTQ Seniors. Tai Chi is low impact exercise perfect for maintaining and increasing flexibility. Maxine Strawder, a certified Tai Chi for Health instructor, will lead the second round of this well-attended series.

Queer Youth Field Day!

Queer Youth Field Day is an annual OUTMemphis free event sponsored by Nike Pride. Our goal is to offer a fun, safe and supportive environment for all LGBTQ and Ally youth ages 13-25 to be active and have a chance to meet other like minded youth. In addition to the games we will be playing there will be food, music, awards and resources available for youth. The first 80 individuals to pre register are guaranteed a Nike swag bag! FU;BU is a peer-led community social group for same-gender loving (SGL) men of color.  The primary goal of FU;BU is to foster a safe, creative, and positive space for SGL men of color. FU;BU aims to build positive relationships with self and community through great conversation, while providing a forum for community building and socializing.
