Jessica Murray

Metamorphosis Peer Advocate

Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

Jessica is a part-time Metamorphosis Project Peer Advocate. She supports the day-to-day operations at the Youth Emergency Center. She will be creating innovative ways to reach young adults and provide positive peer support for all participants.

Jessica is very exhilarated about her new role at OutMemphis. Growing up as an LGBTQ+ foster youth in the midsouth many barriers came about but within those times Jessica still found time to motivate youth and friends around her to always improve themselves to be a better version of themselves. It hasn’t always been peaches and cream. In the year 2019, Jessica was faced with homelessness, and with the help of her Youth Villages worker and Outmemphis, she was able to join the Rapid Rehousing program from there she always did her best to improve herself as well as others in the program. Being a peer advocate means so much more than just the title to her. With a big heart for always wanting to help our fellow LGBTQ, in the same way, she need & received help. She holds many years of first-hand experiences under her belt and is ready to guide others to overcome the same hurdles that she was once faced with.
