Vaniel Simmons is a Youth Advocate at the Youth Emergency Center. A Memphis transplant from Arkansas, they are a current student at Rhodes College, majoring in Psychology and Gender-Sexualities Studies. He is a passionate LGBTQ+ activist and loves working with their community every day. Since they were a young queer kid in need himself, he’s been passionate to pay it back and help others who may be in similar situations. For the past 3 years, Vaniel has worked with unhoused populations in different capacities and will pursue a Masters of Social Work in the next few years. His baby kitty, Inky, is his best friend and absolute best buddy in the world.
