Transgender Services

The Trans Services programming at OUTMemphis aims to provide a variety of support and resources to all members of the trans community. We strive to make OUTMemphis safe and accessible to every trans and nonbinary person by welcoming everyone and treating everyone with the respect and dignity they deserve. Our programming provides peer support, transition guidance through our Trans ID Workshop, therapeutic support, resource referrals, and direct financial assistance through both the OUTLast program and name change fund.

Trans ID Workshop

The Trans ID Workshop is designed to help trans/GNC community members navigate the processes of updating legal identity documents through their transitioning; including name change, gender markers, and other such paperwork. It can be overwhelming and sometimes difficult to find information on how to update your documents. We try to break it down and present the information in a way that makes it feel more accessible and less intimidating. This workshop is open to trans community members of all ages and their families who are assisting them in this process. If you’d like to attend please email Alex for the Zoom ID.

Meeting Time

Every First and Third Monday at 6:00 pm via zoom.

Trans Best of Memphis Guide

The Trans Best of Memphis Guide is an annual handbook curated by OUTMemphis’s Trans Service Department. It is created for navigating transgender-friendly organizations, businesses, non-profits, and faith communities in Memphis. The guide is updated annually and is compiled based on interviews and surveys taken by transgender people in Memphis and the Mid-South.

Programming On Hold Due To COVID-19

As We Are is a peer support group specifically for trans people of color. This meeting will be a haven for discussing the situations and issues that specifically affect trans people of color. As We Are will be a place for community members to meet other people in the community and support each other. Reach out to us for the Zoom meeting ID.

Perpetual Transition

Perpetual Transition is our peer-led community group which has been meeting continuously since 2005. PT is a safe and welcoming space for transgender folks of any identity, pronoun, or expression to meet and socialize with other trans and gender non-conforming community members who are 18+. PT is open to anyone who identifies as transgender or is questioning their gender. It is a safe and confidential space to get peer support every week.

Trans Services Committee

A way for Trans/GNC community members of the Mid-South to provide assistance, feedback and input in planning events as well as to help in event outreach and promotion. Committee members are also a voice for the community to identify ways in which we can continue to support the local trans community.

OUTMemphis wants to create trans-centered events that are accessible and representative of ALL of our community members. We want our events to celebrate and highlight the broad spectrum of amazing people in our community. Together, we will plan events, awareness campaigns, and aid in event promotion and outreach.
