Salary
This role is open to both Manager- and Director-level candidates, and the final position will be based upon experience, qualifications, and budget restrictions. Director-level positions carry a salary range of $60,000 - $75,000; Manager-level positions carry a salary range of $40,000 - $55,000. All applicants will be considered for either level.
SUMMARY
The Community Health Manager or Director manages and executes community health programming for OUTMemphis at our physical sites and in fieldwork and outreach programs. This position will lead OUTMemphis’s core health programs which include HIV and STI prevention, healthcare navigation, food access and justice, supportive services, education, outreach and training. This role will identify and build relationships with neighborhoods and communities facing health disparities and identify impactful interventions to social-political determinants of health and wellness for LGBTQ+ people in the Mid-South. This role will be responsible for metric and budget tracking for the relevant program areas and be responsible for collecting and evaluating participant feedback, data, and needs. This position will work closely with all OUTMemphis program directors and managers to implement evaluation tools that ensure our programming is inclusive, accessible, equity-driven, and person-centered. Spanish fluency is a highly sought after skill for this community health role. As a lead programs staffer, this role will also include basic/general facility duties and on-site coverage responsibilities.
For Director Level:
The Director-level duties will include strategic leadership and vision for all projects and outcomes named above, guiding the development and execution of programs that advance equity and improve health outcomes for LGBTQ+ people across the South. The Director position holds final responsibility for departmental budget and oversight, in consultation with the leadership and Finance staff, in addition to evaluation of all programs. The Director position will also be an active and accountable member of the Directors' team which includes leading and participating in weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual strategy building reports and meetings.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, implement, and manage community-based programs and events that drive engagement of under-resourced intersections of the LGBTQ+ community to accessing health services.
Design and implement programs for black and brown LGBTQ+ individuals that drive access to health interventions and community connection.
Build, maintain, and monitor success of partnerships with local public, private, and grassroots entities towards expanding health and wellness offerings to the LGBTQ+ community
Manage all OUTMemphis’s Community Health programs, including sexual health programs, nutrition education, food pantry services. Also including HIV/HepC testing, counseling and linkage-to-care condom distribution, PrEP/PEP navigation and education, and other sexual and reproductive health education and services.
Conduct targeted community outreach HIV/HepC testing in areas of high transmission rates, with a goal of identifying HIV+ community members and linking them to care.
Support the leadership and development team in grant data or reporting to ensure continuity of programming, as needed.
Obtain training and manage all data entry into any required internal or external databases, ensuring accurate, reliable information always, in line with agency and legal policies and regulations. (OneDrive, CAREWare, EvaluationWEB, REDCap)
Serve as a PrEP/PEP Navigator, promoting PrEP/PEP to targeted demographics, cultivating consistent relationships with local PrEP/PEP providers, provide PrEP/PEP education, counseling, linkage to all visitors, and maintain accurate records and followups.
Staff the OUTMemphis Community Center, ensure program upkeep, maintaining a clean, welcoming, and consumer-facing site always.
For Director Level:
Ensure all OUTMemphis staff are educated and trained on HIV/STI prevention and
other critical health best practices for LGBTQ+ people.
Build agency partnerships and programmatic priorities that drive engagement from
Spanish speakers, transgender populations, LGBTQ+ sex workers, crime victims, drug
users, and other under-resourced populations.
Coordinate all on-site Community Center Community Health Programming to ensure
timely promotion, accurate event details, scheduling, staff reminders.
Organize and contribute to monthly and annual programs calendar(s), ensuring
effective, collaborative Center programs are accessible and impactful.
CORE COMPENTECIES
A minimum of 5 years of experience working in a social services, educational, nonprofit, or health related field. Master’s degree in any related field preferred
Great verbal and written communication skills, including strong organizational, detail and interpersonal skills.
Hands-on ability to guide programs from concept to implementation, including logistics and staffing
Familiarity with budgeting, resource allocation, and maximizing impact with limited funds.
Excellent computer skills including word processing, database operations, spreadsheets, and other software systems; experience with data entry preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds including age, gender, sexual orientation, education, and ethnicity, in a multicultural environment.
Knowledgeable and sensitive to the issues affecting gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, asexual, intersex, and questioning youth and adults. Specific knowledge about black and brown queer and trans issues in the Mid-South, including HIV, homelessness, overincarceration, sex work, family conflict, and other experiences preferred.
Must be able to collaborate and work with diverse constituencies in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Must have strong customer service instincts, de-escalation skills, and knowledgeable care services.
