La Semana De Visibilidad Latinx 2018
Una semana llena de eventos que destacan nuestra comunidad LGBTQ+ Latinx durante el Mes de la Herencia Hispana, del 8 al 12 de octubre. La Semana de Visibilidad Latinx (Latinx Awareness Week en ingles) se esfuerza por brindar eventos que den un sentido de nostalgia y familiaridad a nuestra comunidad LGBTQ+ Latinx, al mismo tiempo exponer a personas que no son Latinx a la belleza y diversidad que existe dentro de la cultura/comunidad Latinx. No solo buscamos dar visibilidad a nuestra comunidad y cultura, sino también a los problemas que enfrentamos como LGBTQ+ y Latinx. Con esta semana esperamos mostrar nuestra presencia en nuestra cuidad y también mostrar que tenemos una voz. Queremos que nuestra comunidad LGBTQ+ Latinx se siente amada, celebrada, reconocida y sobre todo respetada. ¡Así que por favor sal y demuestra tu apoyo!
Latinx Awareness Week 2018
A week full of events that highlight our LGBTQ+ Latinx community during Hispanic Heritage Month, from Oct 8th-12th. Latinx Awareness Week strives to provide events that give a sense of nostalgia and familiarity to our LGBTQ+ Latinx community, while exposing non-Latinx individuals to the beauty and diversity that exist within Latinx culture/community. We seek to not only bring awareness to our community and culture, but also the issues that we face being LGBTQ+ and Latinx. With this week we hope to gain visibility within our city and let it be known that we do have a presence and a voice. We want our LGBTQ+ Latinx community to feel loved, celebrated, acknowledge and respected. So please come out and show support!

El Canto del Colibri: The Song of the Hummingbird
This documentary gives an intimate and deeply personal look into immigrant Latino fathers across the U.S. as they recount the impact of their children’s coming out.

Queer Loteria
Please join us for a fun game night of Loteria at OUTMemphis with great music and some yummy Mexican inspired desserts. This traditional Mexican Game, is similar to BINGO with images. New and experienced players are welcome! We will teach you how to play and it is very easy to learn.

Dia de los Muertos
We want to use a traditional Mexican holiday to honor and celebrate the lives of our LGBTQ+ friends and family who are no longer with us. Join OUTMemphis to decorate our very own Dia Del Muerto altar, with paper cepasuchil flowers, sugar skulls and pan de muerto. We encourage y’all to bring photos of your loved ones to add to our altar which will be in display until the actual day of the dead.

Dia de los Muertos
Queremos utilizar una fiesta tradicional mexicana para honrar y celebrar las vidas de nuestros amigos y familiares LGBTQ + que ya no están con nosotros. Únase a OUTMemphis para decorar nuestro propio altar Dia del Muerto, con flores de papel cepasúchil, calaveras de azúcar y pan de muerto. Les invitamos a que traigan fotos de su ser querido para agregar a nuestro alter que estará en exhibición hasta el día de la muerte.

Baile Del Colibri: Dance of the Hummingbird
Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Reggaeton, and Special Drag performances! Please join us for a night of Latin music and dancing! What better way to end Latinx Awareness Week then with a fiesta! There’s nothing like good music, good food, and good ambiance. We will have drag performers and a special surprise towards the end of the evening! Our theme will be tropical and colorful just like the Colibrí (the Hummingbird). So, dress up in your most vibrant outfit, wear some comfy shoes (because you will be dancing… I mean come on, it’s a Latinx Party) So don’t miss it me gente. Come out for the turn up!

No hay nada como buena música, buena comida y buen ambiente. ¡Tendremos intérpretes de drag y una sorpresa especial hacia el final de la noche! Nuestro tema será tropical y colorido al igual que el Colibrí (el colibrí). Entonces, vístete con tu atuendo más vibrante, ponte unos zapatos cómodos (porque estarás bailando … quiero decir, vamos, es una fiesta de Latinx) Así que no te lo pierdas. Salga por la vuelta!
