The South is home to one-third of all TLGBQIA+ people in the U.S., yet the region has the most hostile legal landscape for TLGBQIA+ individuals. According to the Movement Advancement Project, 93% of TLGBQIA+ Southerners live in states with significant remaining discrimination towards TLGBQIA+ people. Despite this, Southern trans communities have led some of the most powerful resistance, mutual aid, and visionary organizing work in the country.

By hosting the first Trans Pride Week in Memphis, we're anchoring a movement for national recognition, Southern leadership, and tangible community investment.
