MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) — OutMemphis is expanding to meet growing demand, consolidating services and building a permanent regional headquarters for LGBTQ+ people across the Mid-South.

In the past five years, requests for services have increased 300%, the organization said.

OutMemphis, the state’s longest-running LGBTQ+ organization, plans an 11,000-square-foot headquarters in Midtown Memphis on Cleveland Street between Poplar Avenue and Crosstown Concourse. The site is near where the group began its early community work.

The facility is designed for housing support, health and wellness services, and community programming.

“We’ve spent decades meeting our community wherever we could — from basements, bungalows and borrowed spaces — but the need has grown far beyond what those spaces can hold,” said Molly Quinn, CEO of OutMemphis.
